  • Toronto Sci-Tech Fair 2010
    April 9 and April 10
University of Toronto at Scarborough Campus

Toronto Science and Technology Fair (TSTF) is the organization responsible for the Regional Science Fair for Toronto. TSTF seeks to offer a top quality science fair experience for all students in Toronto from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Some of the winners there will be able to go on to compete in the Canada-Wide Science Fair in May.

Please read the information provided below carefully.

Please follow link for Schedules, Maps and Parking to obtain the latest schedule, Parking information, and Map to the Science Fair.

Toronto Sci-Tech Fair 2009 was a huge success, with about 500 students displaying their work from across the city. Our best projects also were awarded numerous prizes at the Canada Wide Science Fair held in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Plans for the 2010 Fair are underway. We welcome past participating schools to this year's fair. In addition, we encourage entries from schools that have yet to participate in our event.

Please use this web-site to obtain information about participation in the fair, registration, rules and deadlines.

Top students from the Toronto Sci-Tech Fair are awarded an opportunity to participate at the Canada Wide Science Fair (CWSF) in Peterborough, Ontario, for a week in May, 2010. Each student promoted to the CWSF must have been present and fully participating in the Toronto Sci-Tech Fair.

Those students selected to participate in the CWSF must undertake to participate fully in the CWSF events for the full duration of the CWSF. Late arrivals or early departures are not allowed for Toronto students at the CWSF.

See RULES for GOLD MEDALS and Canada Wide Science Fair Participation for important information.

    Registration Entrance Fee

Owing to the evolving costs associated with the running of the fair as well as sending Team Toronto to the Canada Wide Science Fair, a $100.00 registration fee per project will be required this year. The fee is applicable per project for students in grade 7 or above. It must be received before the registration deadline of March 3, 2010. The fee is non-refundable after March 3, 2010.

The registration fee of projects originating from the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board is being covered by their respective boards of education. No further action is required on the part of TDSB and TCDSB project entries. In addition, no fee is required of students from the K-6 panel. A bursary program is available for schools/projects that require financial assistance with respect to the registration fee.

The award of a bursary will only be made where there is clear evidence in writing of a financial hard-ship.

    NO School Uniforms

Students are not to compete in school uniform attire at the Toronto Sci-Tech Fair.

    Safety Regulations

Please note that Canada Wide Science Fair safety regulations (including project dimensions) are enforced at the Toronto Sci-Tech Fair. Participants in violation of safety rules will be asked to remove all violations from their project area and in extreme cases may be disqualified. No plant tissue, soil or material which may decompose may be exhibited. No containers of toxic or flammable chemicals are allowed. No exposed wires are permitted. Please refer to the SAFETY CHECK LIST and the Rules and Regulations for a complete list of rules and regulations.
